fear

so i as we were just about to take off from Hartford, on the plane, they showed the whole saftey video about exits, and the responsibilities of sitting in exit row seats. just as we are starting to move this girl looks like she is going to cry and starts a big commotion about not wanting to sit in the exit seat, so the flight attendants were kind of peeved and had to find someone to switch seats with the girl(probably aged 19?) and that got me thinking about fear.

i mean seriously, the odds ofactually being involved in a crash and having to use the door is slim to none. so the girl must have been afraid of one of two things, responsibility or the thought that we could quite possibly crash and die. or both, i guess.

i guess the whole fear of responsibility thing is present in lots of places, and is kind of reasonable. the thing about being afraid of thinking we could crash is what baffles me. the chance of us crashing does not change just because you change your seat. your car crashing on the freeway is more likely to happen than the plane crashing, and you still drive everywhere, right?

that's all for now. and i have homework.

  1. omgoodness.....fear is so complex and crazy sometimes. I used to be scared of just physical torture but when I experience present pain, I know that its not the worst kind. It's almost like we should only be scared of fear. (HP knows it :P)
