Darkroom Adventures: Film Challenge

This year I really want to push myself to make more photographs, even more than last year! I think that 2013 was successful in many ways, but this year I want to put myself out of my comfort zone. So I'm challenging myself to take 52 rolls of film this year. One per week.
Of course I will be summarizing each week with it's ups and downs right here on the blog. Join me if you like! If you aren't into film work with whatever you have! Just go out and take pictures every week. Let me know how it goes.

Darkroom Adventures

Here's a look at the film I developed this week, a medium format roll that I shot on my Diana F+ this winter.  The photos look so cold and creepy, I love it.  These photos are taken from the contact sheet that I made from the roll, this explains the scratches.  I don't have a film holder for this size film (yet), so I can't yet make prints.  As soon as the one I ordered off ebay from Korea gets here I'll make prints of these.  (here's a link to a photos of the actual negatives, as you can see they came out quite thin, so under exposed)

On another note, I can't believe it's already Friday (insert crying here) this means that I have to go back to work tomorrow, and that makes me sad.  But hey, I do need the money.  Tonight I'm going to a little going away party, then I want to come home and plan the camping trip.  I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find a campsite that I like that also allows dogs!

Darkroom Adventures

This week I did very well in my darkroom.  I got right back to it and started making prints, after a quick trip to Hunt's Photo Video in Providence.  Here are the prints that I made this week.

I love these photos, especially the first and last.  I was using a slow shutter speed on the middle two because of low lighting, and it really kills the focus on them.  And clearly I needed to get some Kodak Photo Flo for my negatives, I have since gotten some.  I hope the next roll comes out clean!

These photos were the last roll of film that I developed in my bathroom, I can't believe it but that was back in March!  Poor Moritz (in first 3 photos) has since been laid to rest.  I'm glad I have these prints to remember him by.  Speaking of memories, it's one of my goals this year to put a photo album together of all of my favorite darkroom/digital prints from the year.

The plan is to develop another roll of film tomorrow before I go to work.  That way I can work on them this week and share more next friday! Wish me luck!

Here are my favorite images so far since setting up my darkroom.  I have found however that as I continue to work in there and practice the more I am enjoying the end result.  And the final result has been coming easier as well.

this last one is what I worked on today, as well as another print of Elden.  All I take pictures of are dogs.  They are just so interesting to me.  But I am sure that they are not to everyone else.  Everyone is most interested in their own dog I think.
