Snapshots: Warm Fall Shadows

Weird title, cool pics 1311_s90_050 1311_s90_034 1311_s90_065 1311_s90_043 1311_s90_078 1311_s90_056 1311_s90_039 Took these yesterday when it was oddly warm out, 61*! Today and it was cold and really windy, so is life... I was feeling really inspired by the long stark shadows that were all over the place, and that last one of me on the tree was just for fun. Well I'm off to sleep, I have a 4:30AM wake up time ahead of me... More tomorrow night :)

Snapshots: Tea with Jill

I am so glad that we went because I had never been there before, now that I know how wonderful it is I might just take myself on dates there. You know when I have enough money to take myself on dates again. One week 'til payday!

In other news I'm eating banana bread that I baked yesterday and it's absolutely delicious. I'm patting myself on the back for this one because I edited Martha's recipe and my taking creative license when cooking/baking generally doesn't turn out so well.

Also, I'm taking part in this here Blog Hop, you should join in on the fun if you haven't already:

October was wonderful, lots of positive experiences and changes.  I started a new job, and took a trip to CA to visit family.  I have had so much more time for myself since starting my new job, it's wonderful! And now that I have finally fallen into a groove I am going to pick regular blogging right back up.

All photos taken with my lovely pocket Canon S90, the first two are from a hike we took up to Ross' Cliffs, and the second two are from my brief trip to Ensenada this past month.

Snapshots: Mid- September

The summer has left us once again, this summer was the shortest I can remember.  So much rushing around, working, and stressing; not enough time soaking in the glorious sun.  And now it's too late, I'm sitting here wearing long sleeves.

In good news: I start a new job sometime next month.  I'm hoping that this new job leaves me with more time for photography, both as a hobby and as a side job!

In sad news: I haven't been in my darkroom in what feels like a month, this is what happens when all of my free time is scheduled and I get sick.  Soon!

Snapshots: Camping at American Legion State Forest

Last week Jan and I went camping for the first time together.  It was great.  Getting away from all of the regular stressors was amazing and so relaxing.  Sleeping where I didn't have a streetlight shining in my window was the best!  Here are a few shots from the trip:

Gracie likes to make sure that I'm always safe, I had to tell her to stay at the campsite so she wouldn't follow me to the car.

The last few are long exposures that I took on my Canon s90, I used a high ISO and 15 second shutter speed to capture the little light that was being thrown by the fire.

I cannot stress how much I want to go camping again! We had so much fun.  On our hike (I didn't bring a camera) I saw a porcupine climbing a tree!!! It was amazing.

My only regret is that I did not take a film camera with me.  By next time I will have acquired a cheap 35mm point and shoot that I will not be afraid to take hiking.  I also wanted a break from taking photos, in a way it's tiring, thinking of how I need to have my camera ready all the time.  On this trip I tried to focus on the experience, not how I would remember it.

Snapshots: Barbara's Garden in August

Some lovely flowers from Barbara's garden in late August.  I'm sad the summer is almost gone and I did not get enough time to help her garden.  That won't stop me from photographing the fruits of her labor.  And there's a token photo of Gracie to brighten your day!  I'm off to work soon, more posts soon about the recent darkroom developments and my camping trip :)

Lately I have been spending a lot of time working with Jan in his wood shop.  We are still setting it up and it's coming together pretty quickly at this point.  A few weeks ago I spent time helping him build his new bench, it was quite the workout.  The bench is all set up now, next time I'm over there I'll see if I can snap a decent photo of it.  It came out great!
I've also been working on a few other projects, including printing photos (of course) and painting found frames.  I'll share photos of those soon enough.  I've also been spending way too much time browsing the LUSH website.  I'm obsessed.

Snapshots

Here are a few snapshots I have taken the past few weeks.  I try and keep my camera with me at all times to catch crazy moments forever!

How tripy is this reflection?  My manager pointed it out to me and I ran to get my camera,  I'm surprised I didn't notice it sooner!

Condensation on a glass pane at work.  I love condensation, it's so fun to take photos of.  This is a good photo project idea... I'm always thinking of new ones, I should start a notebook just for that.

Tons of GARLIC, Jan and I met a man and bought a bunch of lumber from him, he is selling all of his lumber to make room for his garlic, he's a garlic farmer.  You have no idea how much garlic he had... this is just the very tip of the iceberg.

And last but not least here are some snapshots of a hike I took with Gracie last week.  I love taking her on hikes, and I think she actually loves it more than I do! Though that's not all too surprising.
